Noida: Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait on Wednesday alleged that a conspiracy has been hatched to particularly target the TMC government in West Bengal over the sexual assault and murder of a female trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College, adding that many other incidents have happened in the country, but this one is being highlighted as there is opposition government there.
Tikait told ANI, "There is a CBI investigation happening in the case. What I had said was that many other incidents have happened in the country, but this one incident is being highlighted and TV channels have been showing this news for the last 8-10 days. Is it because it is the opposition(TMC) government in there (West Bengal)? Even links are being drawn to Punjab. Opposition CMs will remain in jail. But if the same people join the govt (BJP) then they become fine."
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla slammed Rakesh Tikait over his remarks and said "This is the most shameful statement."
"This is the most shameful statement that somebody like Rakesh Tikait could make and that too after Rahul Gandhi says that the entire RG Kar Medical College rape and murder is a distraction. He said it is a conspiracy against the government of Mamata Banerjee, that it is propaganda being done for the last 10 days," Poonawalla said.
